Now that I’m back at work and a new year has begun, my thoughts are turning once again to our beautiful home renovation project. It’s been a little quiet on that front since we had the plantation shutters fitted as the last big project for 2015, mainly because we’d used up all our funds for the year. I never stop looking, dreaming, wanting and wishing and one day all the wishes and plans will come true.
Our living room is a long way from being finished but whenever I find myself in a department store or furniture shop, you can guarantee I’ll be dashing round throwing myself into the comfiest, cosiest armchairs to be found.
We have the perfect space for an armchair in our living room, nestled in the bay window and most importantly facing into the room and away from the TV. I love the idea of curling up on cold afternoons with a good book, huge cushions and a warm blanket, stepping into the pages of the book and escaping daily life for an hour or two. We currently have two sofas in the living room which were more of a needs must purchase when we moved in rather than ‘THE” sofas so we’ll no doubt replace them once the entire room is finished. There’s no rush for the armchair but whilst it’s not a purchase we’ll be making any time soon, looking is still fun.

Ok so I realise this one is verging more on a sofa almost than an armchair but room for two! Or me and Maddie? Or me and a very comfortable sprawling position. The only problem with this armchair is may never be able to get out of it.
This fabric is utterly divine – so romantic and delicate in a colour palette that would go with anything. I’m not sure it would work in my 1930’s London semi and is probably better suited to a rambling Georgian pile in the country but a girl can dream.
This for the wow-factor win! I’ve already decided that the armchair should be an independent statement piece rather than something that matches the sofas and this one certainly fits the bill. It would definitely be vetoed by Pete though and is possibly more at home in an art gallery than my living room.
I really wanted a chaise element to our sofa when we bought them but we couldn’t figure out how to make everything fit. A chaise-style armchair could be the best solution as we definitely have space for it and this dusky pink could be an alternative to go with our dark grey colour scheme.
Last but by no means least, what about a swinging chair?? Granted this would probably work better when we convert part of the garage at the bottom of the garden into a summer house and it’s not strictly an armchair but colouring outside of the lines is a lot of fun.

Whilst I like the chaise (how lovely for stretching right out all relaxed and comfy!) I prefer the love seat. Great for curling up and snuggling right down with a glass of wine, a good book and maybe a cuddly pet warming the feet! X
