A Romantic Boudoir for Valentine’s Day

Dunelmaccessories

Ah, Valentine’s Day. Surely a day in the calendar that’s only important for 15-year-olds, anyone who chose to get married then (this includes my in-laws) and US! Valentine’s Day will always be associated with happiness in our household (forget the romance) because it’s the day in 2014 when we got the call from our solicitor to say that we were home-owners and hotfooted it to the estate agents to pick up the keys and a bottle of champagne.

Aside from that, I’m not the most romantic person in the world in a traditional sense – Pete is great at grand gestures and thoughtful gifts so I feel very lucky but sadly for him my romantic side stretches to offering to do the hoovering 😉

When Ocean Loans got in touch asking if I’d like to bring Valentine’s into my home with a little help from Dunelm, I thought it could be the perfect opportunity to show a little romance and so we set off to our nearest store which recently opened just up the road in Catford.

We were both so impressed with just how much Dunelm had to offer and at such reasonable prices too, it would be incredibly easy to kit out an entire house through them.

We decided to pick up a few bits for our bedroom to give it a fresh look. The best thing about our bedroom is that it’s lovely and airy in a loft conversion but we would like to renovate it one day since currently the only space for the bed is under the eaves, plus it needs a new floor and redecoration.

However a few little touches can make all the difference and we chose this pretty reversible bedding, a vintage-style script Parisian design. The soft grey and cream colour oozes romance as well as reference to Paris, the city of love. We also became one of “those” couples that ends up with extra cushions on their bed purely for decoration because I couldn’t resist.

The bedding really does look so pretty and although we won’t be keeping the blue walls forever, it goes really well with them for now.

We couldn’t resist adding a few extra accessories to our basket to cheer up my chest of drawers and keep up with the Valentine’s Day theme – a little pair of ceramic lovebirds, a hanging wicker heart and an Egyptian cotton fragrance diffuser. We’re now totally ready to celebrate two years in our home when the day arrives with our newly romantic boudoir.

Aaaah CONGRATULATIONS lovely!!! 2 years 🙂 Aww this is such a sweet post! We don’t celebrate Valentines at all — I’m a cynic and see it as a massive marketing scam!! Plus our wedding anniversary is less than 2 weeks before, on Feb 3rd, so that’s the time for my romantic gestures. Love what you’ve done in your boudoir!! I LOVE Dunelm too — they always have such great value stuff don’t they? 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up Lins #HomeEtc

I TOTALLY agree on the marketing scam, I hate the idea of celebrating something as wonderful as love on the same day as everyone else! I’m a new Dunelm convert for sure 🙂 Xx

I’m approaching being very late with commenting this week (again!). It looks like they have some lovely stock. I like the mug with the heart a lot.
Your bedding looks really nice. I like that it is romantic without being all pink and heart-ridden 🙂

I feel like I’m getting later and later again, I think Sunday evening is going to be my typical blog reading time in future 🙂 Yes I love things that are romantic in a less obvious way for sure X

I only discovered Dunelm fairly recently but love it – have eyed up those love birds the last time I was in the store. I’m afraid I am an incurable romantic, plus my boyfriend’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day itself (and mine two days later) so a big weekend for us! I would buy everything with hearts on but do restrain myself so as not to be too tacky! Enjoy your new bedding x

Oh what lovely (and romantic!) reasons to celebrate! I have to say that we went to the tip on Valentine’s Day, romance is alive and well 😉 And yes Dunelm is such a treasure trove, I shall definitely be back Xx
