Beautiful Gifts and Homewares From Feather and Nest

Feather and Nest

As the evenings draw in and the mornings have an autumn dew, it’s the perfect time of year for a bit of self-care. Coming across lovely independents on the interweb can be a challenge. There are so many divine shops and websites to choose from and if that Euromillions win came in, I swear I’d be shopping 24/7. But let me share with you Feather and Nest, a dreamy collection of the perfect treats to make our days a little brighter.

I have to admit, I’m not one for spending money on me. Saving for the house and looking after the animals takes priority, along with life’s mundane items like bills and travel to work. So when a lovely email pops up asking if you’d like to receive a little box of delights, of course the answer is yes.

Based in Wallingford, Oxforshire, Feather and Nest have both a bricks and mortar store as well as their online presence. They opened in 2015 and have been building a steady loyal following ever since. And what better mantra to run a business on:

“We are great believers in filling your home with things that tell a story about you and bring your home to life. We love things that have personality, a sense of fun about them and simply make you feel happy.”

Their brands are carefully sourced and include Paddywax Candles which I’ve been longing to try for ages; accessories from Kate Spade and beautiful rainbow coloured stationery from LA brand Ban.do. Feeling a lot like a child at Christmas, I dashed off to the Post Office one morning to collect my box of goodies and thought I’d share with you what was inside.

Just a moment to appreciate the packaging though – how beautiful? There’s so much to be said for companies who go the extra distance to nail their packaging, it makes the treat experience even more enjoyable. My box included:

-Hazelnut chocolate from Welsh brand Nom Nom. It was completely devoured within 48 hours #guiltyascharged
-Paddywax Urban Candle Tobacco and Patchouli which smells heavenly and I’ll look forward to burning. You can never have too many candles.
-The sweetest miniature cactus, small enough to fit in my pocket
-Stationery to help get my creative blogging juices flowing from Ban.do.

It’s the perfect pick-me-up after I got absolutely soaked when I went to collect the box, you know those freak 5 minute monsoon-style downpours which no amount of coats and umbrellas can do battle against.

Feather and Nest also stock jewellery from East London brand Decadorn, fashion accessories from Becksondergaard and the dreamiest homewares from Nkuku. And a little bird tells me that a certain annual event is only a few weeks away so if you’re looking for gift inspiration I’d say now is the perfect time to get organised and start a little advanced shopping. Remember, it’s so much more important to support independents than high street brands so step away from the chains and shop small instead.
