A Bedroom Refresh With Kaleidoscope #MySanctuary

Kaleidoscope Bedding

As autumn descends upon us I, like most people, tend to sink into hibernation mode. It’s a little bit harder to get up in the mornings and instead of feeling like all weekends should be spent outdoors, it feels very justifiable to curl up on the sofa with a box set. I’ve read a lot lately about how people tend to still see September as the start of a new year rather than January (owing to years of school still ingrained on memories) and enjoy planning for the cooler seasons.

It’s definitely the right time of year to focus on getting a good night’s sleep and throughout September, The Sleep Council are running an initiative to encourage us to think about the importance of those shut-eye hours and dubbing it ‘Sleeptember‘. They have some great tips on their website about steps you can take to try and ensure you get the best kip possible and whilst we probably all take health for granted, sleep is invaluable in giving us all a chance to recharge our batteries in increasingly busy lives.

Although I’ve never been a huge sleeper, it’s really important to me to have a room where it really does feel like you can escape the world. When we bought the house, Pete had the slightly crazy idea that we should just one of the first floor bedrooms as a master, instead of the loft-converted top floor with en-suite. His reason? The first floor bedroom was convenient because it had fitted wardrobes. Thankfully he saw the light very quickly and we settled into our top floor bedroom.

It’s definitely a haven away from the rest of the house and with windows on both sides, flooded with natural light all day long and so airy. We do have grand plans for the room to reconfigure the space to make better use of it, creating walk-in wardrobes and a Juliette balcony on the garden side as well as transforming the en-suite into a wet room but for now we have to settle with little changes like accessories and bedding where we can. This room rarely features on the blog because it’s in a pretty poor condition and is currently full to bursting with everything that’s come out of one of our spare rooms whilst we renovate it.

When Kaleidoscope asked if I’d like to pick some items for our bedroom to celebrate ‘Sleeptember’ I jumped at the chance, knowing that a bedding refresh and a couple of accessories would make all the difference whilst we live in this higgledy-piggledy space. It definitely made all the difference when I retreated to my bed in a state of hungover-ness on Saturday afternoon after a heavy Friday night. You think by now I’d know how to handle my alcohol but seemingly not.

Boo also decided he loved the new bedding, so much so I couldn’t get him out of the way for pictures and so here he is, making his modelling debut on this beautiful reversible design. Quite the handsome chap isn’t he?

It really does, and is such a simple and relatively cheap way of a quick spruce up X
