Feeling Festive At Homesense

Hibs100 Christmas Party

It still feels like such a treat to finally have our own home to decorate for Christmas. After years of moving around a lot when I was little followed by years of renting in London, I’m still getting used to owning even though it’s been nearly 3 years since we moved in. Last year we decided not to get a tree for reasons I can’t even remember but this year with both our hallway and living room taking shape, festive fever will descend once we get back from New York.

Instagram and Pinterest are full of inspiration as well as all the household names and a couple of weeks ago it was the turn of Homesense to show off a fabulously golden theme at the HIBS100 Christmas party in Birmingham. Taking the afternoon off work, I hopped on a train with Antonia from Tinker Tailor Online and Elena from Spanish Mummy talking all things bloggy as we made our way to the amazing Lost and Found close to the city centre.

Last year I did a fair bit of shopping at our nearest store which is about a 25 minute drive. I have to confess though – as often as I’d heard people talking about them it was my first time to step into a store, possibly because we’ve always lived closer to Central London and so the shops have always felt further away. There is SO much to be found, no matter your festive style or Christmas colour theme and the prices are incredible.

At the bloggers meet up, the theme was distinctively gold and I have to admit, it’s not my normal choice for decorating. Yet if there’s one thing I’ve learned from blogging and social media, it’s that there really is room for everything and the deer and ‘Peace’ sign caught my eye. I think it would be the perfect colour to mix with vibrant purple or teal for a slightly Middle-Eastern inspired Christmas or for a traditional look to pair with red and green.

The venue itself was also absolutely gorgeous. As a group booking we were tucked away in the cosiest of dens ‘The Bar Behind The Bookcase’, a cross between a library and a parlour. Evocative of a bygone era yet oozing style for the modern day, the colours were dark and sultry in greens and plums, perfect to get us in the mood for the first Christmas party of the season and a great opportunity to meet blogging friends old and new. Thank you so much to Homsesense and HIBS100 for inviting me along.

Post in collaboration.
