Industrial Homeware Love With Buster + Punch

Buster + Punch

Bringing the industrial trend into our home has taken me by surprise. I’m fairly late to the party with most interiors themes – now that everyone is swapping copper for brass, I’m totally on board and totally off trend. Little by little though, industrial homewares are cropping up around the house. The latest to feature is Buster + Punch, a London-born home fashion label.

Have you ever heard stylish interiors described like that, as a “home fashion label”? If not, then you probably don’t know Buster + Punch. So let me introduce you. I’d come across them on Instagram whilst following other home renovation accounts. The sleek, chic designs of their hardware/homeware accessories (think lighting, handles and electrical sockets) lured me in. If you didn’t think a light switch or socket could be sexy, think again.

Despite how often they kept cropping up in my feed, we’re so far removed from finishing touches with our renovation, I didn’t bother properly checking them out. And then London Design Week happened and the opportunity came up to visit their London HQ and showroom which is just round the corner from my office. Winning!

Before we go any further, here’s what you need to know about the brand and how they describe themselves:

Buster + Punch is a London-born interior fashion label. We work with rare, solid materials to make extraordinary items for every day use. It all started in a garage in East London where we discovered a passion for making the things we love. From lighting and hardware to custom motorbikes and whisky bars, we now make unexpected and elegant interior products for those who want to stand out from the crowd.

Their dark and moody showroom is a complete testament to the above. The whisky bars and motorbikes are all proudly on display alongside the sockets, switches and handles. Their latest collection ‘Caged’ is ‘a new collection of architecturally-designed, modular lighting solutions inspired by the city of London’s steel skyline. The concept takes the simple box light design and transforms it into extraordinary building blocks‘.

Speaking to founder Massimo Buster Minale, it’s clear that nothing about Buster + Punch is trend-led. The focus always has and always will be based around what he enjoys – metalwork, music, creating. It feels as though some of the products almost came about by accident, acknowledging that we don’t all have room for whisky bars in our homes. Yet we all have door handles and light switches. And why shouldn’t these too be stylish and unique.

Admittedly, the brand isn’t necessarily pitched at a mainstream price point. It’s not their intention though. For the interiors connoisseur, someone who really appreciates detail, style and design, Buster + Punch are a must-have. I’m the fastidious type who can’t stand painting over old wallpaper or putting floor down without first removing the skirting boards so it fits properly.

It might take me a while to build my collection but I’ve got the bug for these beautiful design pieces and they very kindly gifted me a set of white handles for my IKEA Malm dresser. It’s made such a different to a fairly plain piece of furniture and that’s exactly the aim. Treat yourself to the smaller accessories to give your room the wow factor, just look for the #busterandpunch hashtag on Instagram to see what I mean!

Things are showing no sign of slowing down for Buster + Punch either. They’ve designed the trophy for this year’s Q Music Awards to be held on Wednesday 18th October at The Roundhouse AND the brand will be presenting the award for ‘Q Best Act In The World Today’. The award is made from solid metal and can also be used as a candle holder. As always, detail prevails. I for one am super excited to see what the future holds for this young and dynamic brand.

I do love the industrial look and they are doing it so well. I love the idea of investing in small accessories like the handles to bring a new look to a more generic piece of furniture. It looks like this brand is one to watch for sure. x

I totally agree Morgana, that way you can save money on bigger items and then style them up with the little things. Thanks so much for joining in X
