Kaleidoscope AW 2017 Preview & A Gin Recipe!

Kaleidoscope AW Preview

Writing about upcoming seasonal collections for later in the year when it’s 30 degrees outside always seems a little strange. It doesn’t stop me from getting excited about new ranges from some of my favourite brands though. As much as I love online shopping, for homewares there often isn’t a substitute for seeing beautifully curated rooms in person for getting the best idea about how items may work in your own home.

The Kaleidoscope AW 2017 ranges were presented at the stunning penthouse suite at the St Martins Lane hotel in London recently and being the nosy little soul that I am, went for a little peep at this stylish venue. The Kaleidoscope team had created a series of room layouts to showcase some of their current and upcoming designs demonstrating how versatile the ranges are.

Here’s what they say about what we can look forward to in the upcoming months:

With an array of luxurious fabrics, opulent colours, stand-out accessories and textural layers – all with a ‘designed to be different twist, the new Kaleidoscope collection really is the perfect way to transform your living space ready for the cooler months. The new collection showcases nine main themes: Country Retreat, Contemporary Luxury, Modern Living, Cosy Cottage, Eastern Opulence, Natural Living, Aztec Glamour, Floral Decadence and the Bathroom Collection – with the range also boasting an array of decorative accessories and finishing touches for the home’.

I’ve collaborated previously with Kaleidoscope and love their mix of contemporary styles at affordable prices. They also had plenty to offer on the garden front for those of us thinking more about summer and I loved this demonstration of how even the smallest spaces can be styled, plus this Florenity Tea Trolley and stylish outdoor pots are perfect for relaxing during these long summer evenings.

Green velvet mixed with cosy furnishings is another hot trend this year, I’m pretty sure Boo and Maddie would be delighted with this sofa layout.

Last but by no means least, I have my eye on these vintage-style pastel toasters as well as this crockery collection with designer Sara Miller – is it too early to make a Christmas list??

Not one to wish the summer away by any means, there is always plenty to look forward to as the seasons change again! Thank you to Kaleidoscope for such a lovely morning. And because it’s still summer I wanted to share a rather dreamy GIN recipe. Who doesn’t like gin?! We were very kindly gifted with a beautiful set of gin glasses from LSA International and a little booklet to demonstrate what a master mixologist can come up with.

LSA International Balloon Gin Glasses

The creation which was designed for the gin balloon glass is a ‘Gin Zing’ – I haven’t attempted to create this yet settling for a more traditional G&T in the back garden but if you fancy having a go here’s what you’ll need:

50ml gin
15ml fresh lemon juice
20ml fresh pink grapefruit juice
30ml lemongrass tea, cooled
15ml sugar syrup

Garnish: lemongrass and grapefruit half moon

Fill the GIN balloon with ice cubes and pour over all the ingredients. Stir for 10 seconds and garnish with a stalk of lemongrass and a half moon of fresh grapefruit. Enjoy!

I’ll admit it was the promise of a gin recipe that caught my eye more so! Bloody love a good G&T or a good gin cocktail. We’ve looked at the LSA gin glasses before as they are lovely, but can’t find anywhere that sells them on their own – they’re always part of a set with other glasses, arg!
