What a relaxing weekend. Plus, it’s nearly the end of January which means that all-important pay day is right around the corner. Since I last wrote a little catch-up post I turned THIRTY EIGHT. This feels like a big milestone for some reason even though I definitely don’t feel in my late-30’s. I’m grateful more than ever to feel so happy and channel positivity every single day.
So what’s been happening?
A fab opportunity for my and workmates to get our gladrags on and have a great night out in aid of the NSPCC. It happens every year on the last Friday in January and is always something to look forward to.
My healthy January regime has paid off and I felt like a million dollars in this dress. It’s from Goddiva Fashion and I had so many messages from people on Instagram asking about it. The service is fantastic, the quality is great but beware – unlike a lot of fashion companies these days, the sizing is tiny. I wore a size 10 and initially worried about whether I could sit down, not a spare milimetre of fabric but it was fine and I was able to dance the night away.
It happened to fall last Monday and at work we get the day off as an extra to our holiday entitlement – bonus! I took a little trip over to The Nunhead Gardener who I follow on Instagram and have been meaning to visit in forever. It’s the most beautiful little spot tucked under the arches opposite Nunhead station. The staff are brilliant and I stocked up on some new houseplants for my tiny collection of pots.
In the evening Pete took me to Wilton’s Music Hall in East London – what a treasure of a place – to see The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk by The Kneehigh Company. Yep, Monday birthdays are definitely my favourite.
And let’s not forget pre-birthday lunch at Redemption Bar in Shoreditch. You can read all about it here but this pulled jackfruit burger made me THIS happy.
For some reason, I hadn’t been beating the cinema doors down on Boxing Day when The Greatest Showman opened. I LOVE musicals. I LOVE Hugh Jackman but something about it just didn’t catch my attention. I eventually went with a couple of workmates (stopping off first for the Vegan Gardiniera at Pizza Express) and it was BRILLIANT. I want to see it again and am completely obsessed with the soundtrack.
Health and fitness has become my new love in 2018 (with the exception of booze, that’s a non-compromise 😉 and in just under a month I feel transformed. Home cooking plus making it my mission to try all the new vegan options in the shops bringing so much joy. What with running every day in January to raise money for Mind, plus going to the gym, not eating well is really stupid.
I think this week will be a quiet one, there are some big changes coming at work so we’ll have to see how the next couple of months shape up. Whatever you get up to have a great one and remember to stop and appreciate something every day.
