So finally the Olympics have begun and for the next couple of weeks I’ll be glued to as much of the most random sports as I can be. There’s something about the very depths of human endeavour that makes me admire this event so much. I’ve always loved it, ever since I was a little girl and actually am very vocal about people who dismiss it. Yes I get that sport isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but shouldn’t the likes of you and I, having devoted ourselves for something for so long, have our moment to shine? Exactly. If you need me between now and the closing ceremony I’ll be camped on my sofa 🙂
Perhaps inspired by Rio, my half-marathon training is well and truly back on track, running 3 miles on Tuesday evening, 5 miles on Friday evening and 8 miles on Sunday evening. It’s still not easy and will never come naturally but I do feel stronger and more determined with each run that passes, just as well seeing as the half-marathon is now only 6 weeks away and one week of those we’ll be on holiday. Of course that holiday to Cornwall and our trip later to New York are spurring me on too, there’s a very swanky Spa at the latter destination with my name on it and I want to look fab-u-lous! There was the most stunning sky on Friday evening as I set off late in the day and on Sunday it was a mixture of walking and running as I couldn’t help but take in landmarks through south-east London, heading from our home up into Blackheath and then down into Greenwich and along the river.
-In other happy moments, I’ve been feeling a little autumnal and wearing this new jumper I bought last weekend. The colour is lovely and something that doesn’t turn up much in my wardrobe.
-Popping to House of Fraser in my lunch break to pick some more of my favourite Origins moisturiser, A Perfect World. I’ve been using it for a few years now and just love the smell and how good it is for my skin. Plus, no nasty SLS and parabens!
-Another little step closer to our finished front door make-over as we had the glass panel replaced to the side. Such a quick job done in just 10 minutes. It’s not the forever front door but until we can figure that one out we’re enjoying a little renovation project.
-Having a leisurely Saturday morning visit to Maltby Street Market in Bermondsey and enjoying breakfast and a little bit of shopping. Such a gorgeous morning.
-Tidying my coffee table for a little blog feature in collaboration with Arlo & Jacob. It doesn’t normally look so pretty.
-How happy these two continue to make me. They play fight round the house like a tornado and then crash out together. It never even crossed my mind that they would get on as well as they do, especially knowing how fussy cats can be. So far, so good.
-Snapping London in my lunch breaks. It feels so good to get away from my desk even if the weather isn’t great or I don’t go very far – it’s simply about appreciating those little moments and not taking anything for granted, especially this beautiful city.
-Stocking up overnight oats. This is my new favourite food at the moment, it’s great for post-run protein and healthy eating and keeps me full at work for ages if I eat it for breakfast rather than wanting to snack mid-morning. Recipe ideas coming up soon!
I hope you’ve had a lovely week X
