Monday Catch-Up #71

Cartier

This week follows the week that my bag was stolen. This is the week I’ve felt like things are back to normal. I’m still waiting for my new work laptop to arrive but most importantly and just in time, my new phone has arrived and I’m so delighted with it. As someone who previously swore I would never own an iphone, there’s a little bit of humble pie being eaten for my new phone is the iphone7 in rose gold and it’s a thing of beauty. My last one was the Samsung S5 mini and if you know anything about technology you’ll know why I’m now so excited.

Aside from technology, here are the all things that made me happy this week:

Taking A Trip Out Of London

On Wednesday I set off to Birmingham for the HIBS100 Christmas party in collaboration with Homesense. It was so fun to travel up with Antonia from Tinker Tailor Online and Elena from Spanish Mummy for a lovely evening at the Lost & Found where I also met a whole load of friends from my virtual world for the very first time. Our journey back wasn’t wonderful however¬†as our train terminated in Coventry and we had to wait an hour for the next one, arriving back into London well after 1am. All’s well that end’s well and it was an excuse for my very first Uber journey¬†which definitely won’t be the last.

House Of Fraser SS17 Preview

It makes me so happy to already be thinking aboutspring – yes, I’m done with winter before it’s even begun and I don’t hold back in my resentment for this time of year. The House of Fraser spring/summer collections were full of beautiful pastel shades for the home and some envy-inducing sports gear. I feel a shopping spree coming on…

A Saturday Off

After what’s felt like weekends of relentless house stuff, we finally took a bit of Saturday off and ventured into town. Starting with breakfast at The Riding House Cafe, we sauntered over to Tottenham Court Road for some Christmas shopping (and shopping for me) before heading home. It felt so peaceful to walk the back streets of quiet London and avoid all the mayhem on Oxford Street. WHY anyone ever goes there is beyond me, least of all on a Saturday before Christmas.

Habitat Supper Club

It’s been a busy week for blogging adventures because on Thursday it was the turn of Habitat, who hosted a Christmas Supper Club at their Tottenham Court Road shop. It was a thank you from them to bloggers who have supported them and it was the most wonderful evening, catching up with more blogging friends and meeting new ones. We sat in on a long table in the window, eating fondu and making mulled mojitos. There aren’t many better ways to spend a Thursday.

All in all it’s been a pretty wonderful week, busy but fun. Little house projects are continuing apace in the background, I spent some of the weekend painting a plater which will go by the front door with an olive tree and we’ve contacted the builder who did our rendering to come and fix the cables across the top of the front door so I can finally do a before and after. It’s such a transformation I can’t believe it’s our home.

We spotted a beautiful copper lampshade from Heals as part of the Cohen Collection which we’re going to order and Pete’s begun the epic task of moving his thousands of CDs into our new storage in the third bedroom. I’m so excited to have a few days off over Christmas and try and get a few more little projects done around the house.

Oh…and you may notice that things are looking a little different around here. A bit of a change for the blog, something a bit more streamlined and focused!

Hope you’ve had a lovely week X
