I thought this week would be harder than it was because coming back from holiday is always so depressing, but after just a week away I felt so energised by the blog and my business that it felt very much a case of no time like the present to get stuck into everything once again.
Our dog walker was still on holiday this week so Pete and I were juggling dog duty between us – I’m sure people think we must be crazy to need to be at home part of the day but trust me, you wouldn’t want to leave a highly social, highly energetic dog alone for 10 hours. There wouldn’t be much left to come home to!
I got through a lot of stock listing for DaisychainBaby too earlier in the week, how awesome are these lollipop harems? Definitely one of my favourite bits from our newest brand Boys & Girls.
This one has definitely been feeling down in the dumps since we came back from holiday, she loved being with us the whole time and walking miles and miles every day. I get that life isn’t so exciting on a day to day basis but she at least cheered up when we had huge rain storms in London on Wednesday – being wet is pretty much her favourite thing.
Thursday was back to my normal work from home routine, I love having that one day a week when I’m at home as a standard. Vax UK very kindly sent me this Air Stretch vacuum cleaner for a review so I gave it a spin and as much as I loved it, it inadvertently set off one our Nest Protect smoke alarms. In the end I figured out that it was dust rising from the vacuum that got into the smoke alarm, which took me an hour to figure it out whilst all 3 alarms we have in the house went off simultaneously. Rightly or wrongly, they’re very difficult to disable once they get a signal that something isn’t right.
Thankfully after all the drama of the afternoon, it was back to Pilates after work which I’ve missed so much. It felt great to be back but oh I knew about it the next day. After Pilates, Pete picked me up and we took the dog for a walk around Chislehurst just in time before it got dark and finished with dinner in the pub where I undid all the day’s exercise.
It’s been such a gorgeous weekend and we spent as much time as we could outdoors – on Saturday we headed to one of our local-ish foodie markets in Brockley, who were celebrating their 4th birthday. We used to live a lot closer but it’s still only a 20 minute drive away and we did a bit of shopping and ate, again.
Sunday we were in the garden, making space for a log shed. This will be the first winter in our home with our wood-burning stove and although it’s been lovely and warm the past few days we’re well aware we need to sort some fuel sooner rather than later. There is a half-painted fence (not by us!) just to the right of our patio doors which was covered in ivy so we set about clearing that and giving it two coats of wood stain and now it’s all ready for whenever we get round to finding that wood store.
Hope you’ve had a lovely week X
