Monday Catch Up #49

I’m not entirely sure this post is going to be finished because Ghost is on Film 4 you know. Which means I have to watch it for at least the millionth time 😉 It’s been another busy and fun-filled week with everything from starting my half-marathon training to beautiful hotels with amazing indoor pools to enjoying cocktails at Eltham Palace with The White Company. I’m so grateful for all the fun projects that I’m able to be involved with as part of the blog and continue to meet so many kind and interesting people.

So yes – half marathon training, went well and then ground to a halt. I did two runs, one on Monday and one on Wednesday and then a combination of illness and a bit of disastrous renovation project put paid to any later in the week. You can read about my progress in this post and if you’d like to donate to me and my colleagues who will be running on behalf of the NSPCC you can do so here. Vague attempts to eat a little bit more healthily and starting my 14 day #MatchaChallenge in collaboration with Teapigs although that too ground to a halt…it’s all going swimmingly! Nevertheless, it feels fab to be running with purpose and I’ll be on back on track very soon.

On Wednesday I popped to the Haymarket Hotel for a peep at the new autumn/winter collection of flooring by Ted Todd floors, a company I hadn’t heard of before but just loved their classic and modern styles of high quality wooden floors. Eventually we’ll be replacing our hallway and living room floor and they provided some great inspiration. I won’t share too many pictures because a full post will follow but I DO have to share the incredible swimming pool at the hotel. Which isn’t part of a designated spa area or anything like that, it’s just “there”. I was so tempted to What’s App my colleagues and tell them to get down to the hotel. Just beautiful. And I joined in with a bit of mood-board creating using some flooring samples they had, what I’d give to these wallpapers past Pete…

I’m also trying to revisit some of the things in my wardrobe instead of always just reaching for the same jeans and t-shirts combination all the time, we don’t have a dress code at work and of course when I’m not at work it’s either walking the dog or messing around with DIY bits and bobs so the temptation is always there to avoid anything else but my friend made this beautiful skirt for me and it always gets so many comments when I wear it.

My new watch from Jord Wood Watches has also been making me happy this week – the entire bracelet is made from wood making it so light and comfortable to wear and the colour is very me indeed. It’s been coming everywhere with me and will be featured in some upcoming posts.

On Friday I had the day off work and spent the afternoon with The White Company at Eltham Palace to celebrate their #SummerEntertaining campaign. It was a wonderful afternoon with drinks by 31Dover.com, a string quartet, food by Green Sauce and a tour of the stunning palace gardens and house. I can’t believe I live a 15 minute bus-ride away and had never been!

It was back to earth with a bump on Saturday, in full-on renovation mode. We’re having a new floor fitted in one of the bedrooms this week to match the office floor and so it was out with the old carpet and underlay (which literally disintegrated as I pulled it up, then painstakingly taking off all the old skirting, draining and removing the radiator and then going round repairing all the floorboards. Lots of people on Instagram asking if we’re keeping the stripped wooden boards but alas not – we wanted all the floors to match and the floorboards in the other rooms were beyond repair. Excited for this week though!

And last but by no means least, a fun morning on Sunday when I attended an event with The Joy of Plants and Red Magazine at One Belgravia to demonstrate #plantvitality, showing how house plants can enhance our state of well-being. I met some lovely bloggers, had a relaxing meditation, practised some Instagram styling and made our own hanging house planters. The perfect way to while away a few hours.
