Secret Linen Store Autumn/Winter Preview

Secret Linen Store

According to my better half, bed is my favourite place. Which is surprising considering I’m rarely in it before midnight and the alarm goes off at 5am. So I can easily dispute his claims but after spending a lovely morning checking out the sumptuous autumn/winter collection from Secret Linen Store recently, he may be on to something. I popped along to their autumn/winter preview a couple of weeks ago held at the boutique Artist Residence Hotel in London and now have a long seasonal bedding wishlist.

Listen to this description of their “Winter Jewels” collection and see what you think:

“The Secret Linen Store has moved to the dark side. We have used a midnight blue double colour warp (a first for us) and lots of exciting dramatic colours in the weft. The result, we feel is a statement of snuggle and stay in bed when all around is chilly and dark. All of our new collection has been made using our fabulous and proven 260 thread  count quality. We just had to add our sateen finish, it was the only finish for this range, giving it a sheen, a sparkle and an air of magic about it.”

Think rich and warm purples, mixed with teal and midnight blue. The colours that make you want to shut out the cold, stretch yourself luxuriously in between the sheets and drift off to dreamland in style. I love Secret Linen Store for their attention to detail, for being focused and precise and not trying to be everything to everyone but knowing what they want to do and doing it bloody brilliantly. Because the truth is that when you’re presented with a lot of different bedding, it doesn’t take a genius to separate the wheat from the chaff. You can run your fingers over their duvets and feel the difference and quality – when sleep is so important wouldn’t you want the best?

If drama isn’t your thing, there are some divine lighter mix and match pastel shades available for autumn, featuring their redesigned leaf pattern with 4 subtle shades of green, grey and yellow shining through, changing all the time with the light of the day. I’m also a bit of a sucker for the Luxury Plain Silver Grey collection because I don’t think my love affair with 50 shades of grey will be ending any time soon (the colour, not the film). “This bedding not only looks the bees knees, it feels like a peach that is ripe and juicy”. What else can I say?

I also have my eye on the Washed Cotton Percale Collection which is perfect for the low maintenance lovers like me who don’t do ironing. Seriously, I don’t. I was press-ganged into it by my parents who both worked all hours when I was growing up and so I was a latch-key kid from a young age, assigned a multitude of house chores as soon as I got home from school which included ironing my Dad’s work shirts and their bedding. On leaving home I vowed never to iron again and very sensibly married a man who is quite happy to iron. Clever me! And clever Secret Linen Store:

“The laundered finish on this bedding is added to make it feel and look like it’s been yours for a while. Its softness is like that of an old favourite, hence our advice that you really don’t need to iron this bedding. YIPPEEEE”.

Quite. So I’ll definitely be upgrading some of my bedding sets come the changing seasons because autumn is depressing enough so a little treat to make me feel all warm and cosy is very deserved. And if you should find yourself in London town then you really need to make a beeline for Artist Residence which also has a restaurant and bar and is definitely going to be my new favourite hangout and the next venue when Pete and I fancy doing the tourist thing in our home city.

According to me, myself, bed is my favourite place! And like you I was made iron from an early age, but unlike you I continue to do it (in fact I kind of like it!). I’ve been coveting Secret Linen bed linen for a long time, it looks so lovely and great quality, so lovely to see the new range. I still think I like their patterns rather than plain the best though!

Ha!! I’m totally with you — bed is DEFINITELY my favourite place to be. These days, it’s rare to be in there without two little boys, jostling for attention and room though!!! I’ve been hankering after the Secret Linenstore bedding since I saw it on Capture By Lucy’s blog last year. They have the most gorgeous designs. I’m such a fan of plain white bedlinen but I’d make an exception for their lovely prints and patterns! Thanks for linking up lovely, Caro xx #HomeEtc

It’s beautiful isn’t it? And funnily enough I tend to go for really “out there” bedding but am favouring their more muted patterns and colours – think I might overhaul for autumn X Thank you for hosting XX
