Spring/Summer Inspiration from House of Fraser

One Marylebone Chandelier

Now that Christmas is over for another year, it’s time to look ahead to thoughts of spring and new plans. I love January, the chance to think about our next home projects for a new year and seek out new ideas. House of Fraser on Oxford Street is often one of our go-to places for home ideas with a range of collections at purse-friendly prices so I made a beeline for their spring/summer preview at One Marylebone a few weeks before Christmas to see what would be on offer for the coming season.

House of Fraser Junipa

Launching for SS17, ‘Junipa’ explores an ‘Eastern approach to interior design, channeling decorative colonial style with a modern twist. The collection offers an elegant range of beautifully modern home decor across furniture, dining, accessories and soft furnishings. Its natural earthy palette and intricate textures emulate a collected feel, whilst carefully considered techniques and materials bring together traditional and new.

This Deshi bird-print cushion caught my eye and will retail at £15 – it would look very pretty on our dark grey sofas giving a spring refresh to our living room.

For dark style and house plant lovers, look no further than Biba Home: ‘for a truly eclectic interior style, the iconic Biba collection mixes bold prints, sumptuous textures and gold retro-feel silhouettes for a dramatically modern statement‘. I’m so in awe of all the dark interiors I see on Instagram, you can find some of them under the #styleitdark tag but I’m just not sure if I would be brave enough to go down that route at home.

With our current living room style, Casa Couture offers some very complementary pieces. Described as a ‘soft, streamlined aesthetic of Casa Couture creates an easy elegance with both classic and contemporary style values. Sophisticated geo prints are combined with an understated palette of textured metallics and luxe smoky-grey tones.’ I’m the most surprised that grey features so heavily in our home, a ‘colour’ that I always dismissed as bland and uninteresting now for me represents chic sophistication and I’m still not coming close to tiring of it.

And some of the other displays I saw which captured my attention. The problem I find with thinking about furnishings for our home is that no sooner do I have my heart set on something than I see something else. Perhaps I just need to stop looking.

Although of course I was there as an interiors blogger, it would have been entirely wrong to visit without checking out the fashion previews and oh my goodness, if ever there was inspiration to get back into exercising post-Christmas excess, this is IT!
