WIN! A Bespoke Girl’s Dress from Ooo Lo La!

Last week I wrote about the awesome day I had in York with Emma and her little girl and what a multi-talented lady she is.

Running a children’s clothing business and being every so slightly obsessed with bright colours and unusual designs, I’m totally impressed with Emma’s dress-making skills – the versatile peasant dress is pretty enough for girls who like to dress up and at the same time allows girls to run and tumble, climb trees and be free-spirits.

Things are really taking off for Emma’s business, Ooo Lo La York. Here is a little about where her inspiration came from:

After doing a dressmaking evening class, I posted a picture on Instagram of a little dress I had made for Lola. I was immediately asked if I was making them to sell and I thought why not?! A couple of months down the line and my dresses have made it as far as Australia!

I charge £20 for the dress-making service and return gift-wrapping and postage – customers can choose a fabric of their choice, send it to me and the finished item is posted back. This has worked better than I first imagined as we all have such different tastes in fabrics and I have made dresses from fabrics that I wouldn’t have chosen but they look absolutely fabulous! I’ve been quite jealous as I parcel them up!!

I have more designs, bigger sizes & boys clothes planned for the future but at the moment the Peasant Dress is available from sizes Age 1- Age 8. I’ve bought fabric from various sources but recently have bought all of mine from Patchwork Elephant. They have a beautiful range of designer fabrics and also a good collection of fabrics at £5 a metre, which makes having a bespoke dress very affordable (typically a dress for a 1-5 year old requires 1 metre of fabric).

WIN! Emma and I have very similar taste in kids fashion and she’s kindly agreed to let my fledgling blog Boo and Maddie offer one LUCKY reader a beautiful handmade Peasant Dress in THIS amazing vintage-style scooter fabric, in a size between 1 and 5 years!

The competition is open to UK participants only and will close at 10pm on Wednesday 30th July when a winner will be picked. Simply complete the rafflecopter below.

As a very special extra, if you would like to choose your own materials and have Emma make you a dress, her source of ace fabrics are offering a huge 20% off – simply visit Patchwork Elephant and quote OOOLOLA20 for your 20% fabric discount! Good Luck.
