Cosy Homesense Comforts For Christmas

Homesense

Do you remember Supermarket Sweep? Dodgy gameshow from the 90’s hosted by a perma-tanned Dale Winton? The idea was that contestants had some time to do a trolley dash in a supermarket to win prizes. Imagine that coming true! Except a much classier version. I love Homesense and they’ve featured a few times before on the blog. But the equivalent of a trolley-dash where we get to shop for FREE? Now that’s winning at life.

The store in question is in Merton, south-west London. With a TKMaxx already existing, the upstairs has been turned into Homesense, something new that the company is trying. Rather than occupying separate sites for both brands, it makes sense to collaborate where space is available.

And a new idea that Homesense are trying out for Christmas is to create your own bespoke hamper. We’re used to high street and online shops offering pre-filled hampers following a certain theme. But imagine being able to buy a basket of your choice and fill it it with exactly what you want? With an empty hamper and £50 kindly gifted to us, it was time to shop. Or was it? Despite my glee at being let loose in a fabulous homewares store, I initially felt so overwhelmed it was hard to shop!

There are so many reasons to shop, too. Forgetting Christmas (which I’m still woefully underprepared for), it’s Pete’s birthday this week AND my best friend has just had a little baby girl. But instead of thinking of others as we’re meant to do at this time of year, I think only of myself 😉 Soon enough my wheelie basket was full of snuggly items for a cosy Christmas at home.

Without further ado, here is what I bought (and yes, I did go over the £50 budget so had to top up the difference):

-Softest throw in pinks, reds and blues for one of the sofas

-Two Nordic-style tree cushions for the same sofa

-Sand and Fog ‘Winter White’ candle

-Scented Space Australia Reed Diffuser

I basically live in our living room during the colder months. The fire is lit every night and earlier at weekends. Throws, candles, anything ‘hygge’ is the way forward for me at this time of year but I’m not a huge lover of OTT Christmas decor. There’s something for everyone at Homesense which is what makes it such a great place to shop and of course, those prices can’t be argued with.

So who would you shop for if you were let loose here? I’d love to know!

Thank you to Homesense for inviting me to take part in the hamper-trolley-dash and providing £50 to spend in store. All words, opinions and images are my own.
